Frequently asked questions

Therapyway is an online marketplace that connects people across the UK with independent, HCPC-registered occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists. The answers below explain how to find and book a therapist, how to join as a therapist, and how we look after your privacy and data. We are a platform that puts you in touch with therapists; the therapy itself is provided by the independent therapist you book. If you cannot find what you need below, email us at contact@therapyway.co.uk.

Finding a therapist

What is Therapyway?

Therapyway is a UK online marketplace that connects the public with independent occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists. We do not provide therapy ourselves. Therapists publish profiles on the platform, and you can search them, send messages, and book appointments. The clinical relationship is between you and the therapist you choose.

Does it cost anything to search for a therapist?

No. Searching for therapists and viewing their profiles is free. You only pay for the appointments you book, at the rate the therapist sets. Browsing and comparing therapists costs nothing.

How do I find and book a therapist?

Open the Therapyway app and search by the type of therapy you need. You can read each therapist's profile, check their availability and rates, and book a time that suits you. If you have questions, you can also message a therapist through the platform before booking. To get started, sign in or create an account in the Therapyway app.

Are the therapists qualified and HCPC-registered?

Yes. Therapists on Therapyway are independent professionals who must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the UK regulator for occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists. You can check any HCPC registration yourself on the HCPC public register at hcpc-uk.org.

Is Therapyway a replacement for the NHS or emergency care?

No. Therapyway gives you access to private, independent therapists. It is not a substitute for NHS care, and it is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger or needs urgent help, call 999. For urgent but non-emergency health advice, call NHS 111.

How do payments work?

Each therapist sets their own rates, which are shown on their profile. Payments are made through the Therapyway app and handled by a third-party payment provider, so we do not store your full card details ourselves. You will see what you are paying for before you confirm a booking.

Can I cancel or reschedule an appointment?

Yes. You can cancel or reschedule through the Therapyway app. Therapists set their own cancellation terms, including any notice period or charge for late cancellations, so check the details on the therapist's profile or booking confirmation before you book. If you are unsure, message the therapist directly through the platform.

How is my personal data handled?

We handle your data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We collect what we need to run the platform and connect you with therapists, and we do not sell your personal data. Information you share with a therapist as part of your care is handled by that therapist, who is responsible for it as an independent professional. For full details, see our privacy policy.

For therapists

Who can join Therapyway as a therapist?

Therapyway is for independent occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists working in the UK. You join as a self-employed professional, set your own rates and availability, and keep the clinical relationship with your clients. We are an early-stage platform, and the community of therapists using it is still growing.

Do I need to be HCPC-registered to join?

Yes. You must hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for your profession. HCPC registration is a condition of joining and of keeping your profile active on the platform.

How do I register, and how does verification work?

You can register through the Therapyway app by choosing the therapist sign-up option and completing your profile. During onboarding we ask for details that let us check your HCPC registration before your profile goes live. If anything is missing or we need to confirm a detail, we will get in touch.

How do fees work, and what does it cost?

You set your own session rates. Therapyway charges a fee on bookings made through the platform, which covers running the marketplace and processing payments. The current fee structure is shown to you during sign-up and in your account, so you can see what you keep from each booking before you take it on. If you have a question about fees, email contact@therapyway.co.uk.

How and when do I get paid?

Clients pay through the Therapyway app, and a third-party payment provider processes the payments. Your earnings, less the platform fee, are passed on to you according to the payout schedule shown in your account. You can view your bookings and payments in the app at any time.

Can I set my own availability and rates?

Yes. You control your calendar and decide when you are available, which appointments you accept, and what you charge. You can update your availability and rates in the app whenever you need to, so the platform fits around how you want to work.

How do I manage bookings and documentation?

You manage bookings, client messages, and your documentation in the Therapyway app. The platform gives you one place for your day-to-day admin, while you remain responsible for your own clinical records and professional obligations as an independent therapist.

How do I get support as a therapist?

Email us at contact@therapyway.co.uk and we will help. You can reach us with questions about your profile, verification, bookings, fees, or payments, and we aim to reply as quickly as we can.

Privacy, security and support

How do you protect my data?

We follow UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we limit access to personal data to what is needed to run the platform. We use security practices such as encryption in transit and access controls, and we keep working to improve them as the product grows. We describe these as practices and commitments rather than formal accreditations.

Are you certified to a security standard?

Therapyway is an early-stage product, so we do not claim formal security certifications. We are committed to protecting your data and to building towards recognised security and data-protection standards over time. We would rather be clear about where we are than overstate it.

Do you use cookies, and do I have a choice?

Yes. We use cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics and PostHog, to understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies are only set if you give consent through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. For more detail, see our cookie policy.

Who is the data controller, and which regulator covers it?

Therapyway Ltd is the controller for the personal data we handle to run the platform. UK data protection is overseen by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Where a therapist holds information about you as part of your care, that therapist is responsible for it as an independent professional.

How do I contact support?

Email us at contact@therapyway.co.uk for help with finding a therapist, your account, bookings, payments, or anything else. You can use the same address for data protection or privacy questions.

Where is Therapyway based?

Therapyway is operated by Therapyway Ltd, Office 8161, 321-323 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6AX, United Kingdom. We operate in the UK, and our services are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

What should I do in an emergency?

Therapyway is not for emergencies. If someone's life is at risk or there is an immediate danger, call 999. For urgent health advice that is not an emergency, call NHS 111. Please do not use the platform's messaging or booking tools to seek emergency help.
